Frequently Asked Questions
How do I remove pages from a PDF?
Load the PDF, click the thumbnails of the pages you want to remove (or type them, e.g. 2, 5-7) and click Delete. A new PDF without those pages is downloaded.
How do I delete a blank page from a PDF?
Scroll the thumbnails until you see the blank page, click it to mark it and download the result. Thumbnails make empty pages easy to spot without opening the file.
Are my files uploaded when I delete PDF pages?
No. Thumbnails are rendered and pages are removed by JavaScript in your browser. The PDF never leaves your device, so it is safe for confidential documents.
Can I delete pages from a PDF without Adobe Acrobat?
Yes. This tool does it in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android or iOS, for free and without installing software or creating an account.
Will removing pages change the rest of the document?
No. The remaining pages are kept exactly as they were — same text, images and quality. Only the marked pages are dropped from the page list.
Can I delete every page of a PDF?
No. A valid PDF needs at least one page, so the tool always keeps one. To discard a document entirely, simply delete the file.
How removing pages from a PDF works
A PDF keeps an ordered list of its pages, called the page tree. Deleting a page means taking it out of that list and writing a new file in which nothing refers to it any more. This tool uses pdf-lib to do exactly that in your browser: the marked entries are removed, unused objects are dropped when the file is saved, and every remaining page is kept byte-for-byte as it was.
Thumbnails are drawn with pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs. They appear one after another, so even long documents become usable within a second or two and you can start marking pages while the rest are still loading.
How to delete pages step by step
- Open your PDF. Drop it onto the upload area or click to browse.
- Mark pages visually. Click a thumbnail to mark it — it is crossed out in red. Click again to keep it.
- Or type a selection. Enter pages and ranges such as
2, 5-7, 10-and press Mark pages. You can fine-tune the result by clicking thumbnails afterwards. - Download. The summary shows how many pages will remain. Click the button to save a copy named
-pages-removed.pdf.
Why people remove pages from PDFs
- Blank pages from duplex scanning — double-sided scans of single-sided originals leave an empty page after every sheet.
- Sensitive information — drop a page containing bank details or personal data before forwarding a document.
- Cover pages and ads — strip title pages, terms or advertising from reports and e-books you keep for reference.
- Smaller attachments — fewer pages means a smaller file, which helps with email and upload limits.
Tips and limits
- Removing a page removes it from the document, but it does not redact text on other pages. For redaction, use dedicated software.
- If you want to keep only a few pages out of many, the split tool's "Extract pages" mode is quicker than marking everything else.
- Bookmarks that pointed to deleted pages may stop working; links to remaining pages are unaffected.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first — the tool tells you when a file is encrypted.
- The original file is never modified. You always download a new copy, so you can repeat the process with a different selection if you removed the wrong page.
- After deleting pages, printed page numbers inside the content stay as they were. Add fresh numbering with the page numbers tool if the gaps would confuse readers.
