Signature Generator

Draw your signature or type your name in a handwriting font, then download a transparent PNG or SVG. Everything happens in your browser.

Ink colour

Sign inside the box. Strokes thin out when you move quickly, like real ink. Undo removes the last stroke.

Need to sign a document? Use your signature directly in the Sign PDF tool — drag it onto any page and add the date.

🔒 Your signature is created locally in your browser — it is never uploaded or stored.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a signature online?

Draw your signature on the pad with a mouse, finger or stylus, or type your name and pick a handwriting style. Choose the ink colour and pen width, then download it as a PNG or SVG.

Is my signature stored or sent to your servers?

No. The signature is drawn and exported by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, saved or logged, and it disappears when you close the page.

Does the PNG have a transparent background?

Yes. The PNG is exported with a transparent background, trimmed to the signature with a small margin and rendered at twice the on-screen resolution, so it looks sharp on documents and emails.

When should I use SVG instead of PNG?

SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without blurring, which suits design tools and websites. PNG works everywhere, including Word, Google Docs and PDF signing tools. A typed SVG uses a web font, so the PNG is the safer choice for typed signatures.

Is a generated signature legally valid?

A drawn or typed signature image is a simple electronic signature. It is accepted for many everyday documents, but it is not a certificate-based digital signature. Check what the recipient or local law requires for contracts.

How do I add the signature to a PDF?

Download the PNG and upload it in our Sign PDF tool, or create the signature directly there. You can then drag it onto any page, resize it and add the date.

How the signature generator works

In Draw mode the pad records the points your pointer passes through — mouse, finger or stylus all work through the same pointer events. Instead of joining those points with straight segments, which looks jagged, the tool draws smooth quadratic curves through the midpoints between them. The line also gets slightly thinner when you move fast and thicker when you slow down, imitating how ink flows from a real pen. On devices with a pressure-sensitive stylus, the actual pen pressure is used instead.

In Type mode your name is set in a handwriting typeface. The four fonts — Dancing Script, Great Vibes, Caveat and Sacramento — are open-source Google Fonts served from this site, ranging from formal calligraphy to a casual marker look.

PNG or SVG: which file should you download?

  • PNG — a transparent image cropped tightly around the signature with a small margin, at twice the pad resolution. It drops onto any background without a white box and is accepted by Word, Google Docs, email clients and PDF tools.
  • SVG — a vector file. Drawn signatures are saved as paths, so they stay crisp at any size and can be recoloured in a design tool. Typed signatures are saved as text that references the font name; the font must be installed where the SVG is opened, so prefer the PNG when in doubt.

Tips for a natural-looking signature

  • Use the full width of the pad. Large movements are smoother once the image is scaled down on a document.
  • Sign in one confident motion rather than slowly tracing letters; speed variation is what makes strokes look handwritten.
  • On a phone, turn the screen to landscape for more room, or use a stylus.
  • Use Undo to remove only the last stroke — useful for fixing a dot or an underline without starting over.
  • Dark blue ink is a popular choice because it distinguishes an original signature from a photocopy.

A signature image is a simple electronic signature. It works well for email footers, cover letters, invoices, permission forms and most informal agreements. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not prove identity on its own, so official documents may need a qualified signing service. Keep the file private: anyone who has it can paste it onto a document.

To use it in practice, insert the PNG as a picture in Word or Google Docs and set text wrapping to "in front of text" so it can overlap the signature line. In Gmail or Outlook, add it to your email signature settings at a modest width of around 150–200 pixels. For PDFs, upload it in the Sign PDF tool, where you can also stamp the date and copy the signature to every page.
